Multiple wins at the 2011 Australian Web Industry Awards

Think of the AWIAs like the ARIAS with a speech impediment and a bit less booze.
At the time of writing and in an era of blow-by-blow tweeted updates from those who really need to be noticed, this is actually pretty old news.
Back in October 2011, the SUMO team were thrilled to take home two awards in the 2011 Western Regional round of the AWIAs. Winning awards in this regional round means your entries are automatically elevated to the national rounds. In the Western round we picked up category awards for our work on
Claremont Quarter in the Commercial Category and the
Our New Home property selector in the Innovation Category.
It is a great feeling to have peer recognition for the work you do and that is particularly rewarding for our team when you look at the long list of esteemed Australian and International Judges that collaborated on the results. We were also impressed at the quality of work entered into this year’s awards.
Those Regional winners (along with our mobile entry) then made it across the country to the National Round, held in Melbourne in November 2011.
After a painfully long drum roll and a red-eye plane trip, the results were in. Our New Home property selector held strong and topped the National Innovation Category, and our iPhone app for Wilson Parking – ParkMate - rose to the top of the very competitive National Mobile App category against some great finalists from Vic and NT.
We all feel very fortunate to have been recognised for our efforts, and we thank the Judges for their recognition. We’d also like to thank the AWIA team who have a pretty tough job coordinating the event with their day jobs thrown into the mix (along with irate entrants who ask for last minute form changes, right Gary?).
