Concession – NSW

The NSW Government offers a variety of rebates to assist with payment of energy bills. Holders of a Pensioner Concession Card, Health Care Card or DVA Gold Card may be eligible. Please see the individual rebate information below on how to apply.  To apply for an energy rebate (other than the Life Support or Medical Energy Rebate) To apply for an energy concession (other than the Life Support or Medical Cooling Concessions) or to update your concession details, print, complete and return this form: Sumo Concession Form.

Low Income Household Rebate

The NSW Low Income Household Rebate provides eligible concession card holders with $285.00 annually. This rebate is applied as a daily amount on your electricity bill. The exact amount of the rebate paid on each bill will depend on the number of days in that billing period.

NSW Gas Rebate

The NSW Gas Rebate provides eligible concession card holders with $110.00 annually. This rebate is applied as a daily amount on your electricity bill. The exact amount of the rebate paid on each bill will depend on the number of days in that billing period.

Life Support Rebate

The Life Support Rebate provides a quarterly discount on electricity bills where a household member uses an eligible life support machine. For further information on qualifying machines, please visit https://www.energy.nsw.gov.au/energy-consumers/financial-assistance/rebates/life-support-rebates.
To apply, please download, complete and return the application form here. Application forms need to be completed and signed by your registered medical practitioner confirming your use of a life support machine.

Medical Energy Rebate

The Medical Energy Rebate provides eligible Low Income Household Rebate customers assistance with your bills if you or someone living with you has an inability to regulate body temperature due to specific conditions. This $285.00 rebate is applied as a daily amount on your electricity bill. The exact amount of the rebate paid on each bill will depend on the number of days in that billing period. The Medical Energy Rebate is given in addition to the Low Income Household Rebate. To apply, please download, complete and return the application form found here. The application form needs to be completed and signed by your Medical Practitioner confirming your medical condition.

Family Energy Rebate

The Family Energy Rebate provides $180 a year to eligible customers that do not hold a DHS Concession Card or Health Care Card or $20 a year to eligible customers that do hold a DHS Concession Card or Health Care and also qualify for the Low Income Household Rebate of $285 a year. If you receive the Low Income Household Rebate, no further application is needed for the $20 a year.
